The debate on making parts of Mumbai hoardings-free, though contentious reminded me of this Ogden Nash poem: I think I shall never see A billboard lovely as a tree. Perhaps, unless the billboards fall, I’ll never see a tree at all.
Wish they did something about the hoardings in Chennai though The mecca of hoardings!); the city has no skyline to speak of. There is quite a bit of visual pollution with these grotesque billboards all over. They block out buildings and occupy scarce pedestrian space on footpaths. It does not like anything is going ot change soon however (sigh)
